Why I'm starting this — and what you'll find here

If you're reading this, you've probably found your way here through Jem Travel, or maybe just stumbled onto this corner of the internet while researching Vietnam for a client. Either way — welcome.

I've spent the better part of the last decade designing trips across Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos for European travelers, mostly working with Italian agencies and tour operators. In that time I've sat through countless site inspections, eaten in more family kitchens than restaurants, and learned — sometimes the hard way — what actually makes a trip through this region feel different from one that just follows the well-worn route.

I started Jem Travel in 2024 because I wanted to build a DMC around that difference: itineraries that breathe, guides who tell stories instead of reading schedules, and the flexibility to change course when something better comes along — because in Indochina, it often does.

This site is a separate thing. It's not a sales page, and I won't be pitching tours here. It's simply where I want to write down what I've learned, and what I keep learning, for the agents and travel professionals who are designing trips to this part of the world. You can expect a few kinds of posts:

Destination notes — honest takes on places I've visited recently, written with an agent's eye: what's changed, what's worth building into an itinerary, what's overhyped.

Behind the scenes — what a site inspection actually looks like, how an itinerary comes together, the small decisions that shape a trip before a client ever sees it.

Industry notes — seasonal shifts, visa changes, things happening across Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos that are useful to know before you quote a trip.

Stories — about the guides, the families, the small hotels and the people who make this region what it is.

I'll be posting as often as I can manage alongside running Jem Travel — which is to say, not on a strict schedule, but regularly. If there's something specific about Vietnam, Cambodia, or Laos you'd like to see covered, feel free to reach out.

Thanks for stopping by. More soon.
